Farewell GBCP, welcome Action Greater Bedminster!

I am writing to members and subscribers to the Greater Bedminster Community Partnership Newsletter to let you know that at the Annual General Meeting of the Greater Bedminster Community Partnership on 4th November, members agreed a name change, adopted a new constitution and appointed a new Executive Committee.

The organisation is now called Action Greater Bedminster. The aims of Action Greater Bedminster are to support the advancement of community development and improve the quality of life for all those living and/or working primarily within the Greater Bedminster area of the City of Bristol (effectively the electoral wards of Bedminster and Southville and immediate surrounds).

There will be 10 officers (of which eight were elected at the AGM) who will meet four times a year. These are:

  • Chair – Donald Branch (Caraboo Neighbourhood Association)
  • Vice Chair – Celia Phipps (SCDA trustee, Parson Street school governor, local councillor)
  • Secretary – Ellie Freeman (Caboodle)
  • Membership secretary – Stef Brammar (Way Out West, acta)
  • Treasurer – TBC

Executive Committee members:

  • Steve Sayers (Windmill Hill City Farm)
  • Ade William (Bedminster Business Improvement District)
  • Simon Hankins (Southville Community Development Association)
  • Kris Tavender – Bristol Rugby
  • TBC

Twice a year there will be open public forum meetings and general meetings for members. Our members will be representatives from local organisations and we will be encouraging and supporting these organisations, helping to co-ordinate joint projects, networking, sharing advice and more.

There are five sub-committees/working groups that any member can sit on that focus on the priorities for the area: Parks, leisure, libraries; Environment (including traffic, street scene, air pollution); Community development; Urban planning & conservation; Communications, marketing & promotion.

We hope Action Greater Bedminster will be inclusive, progressive and collaborative; continuing to make an impact in your neighbourhood, responding to your needs and making your voice heard.

We will be contacting everyone about being a member of Action Bedminster and about our future communications as soon as possible. If you have any questions or comments in the meantime, please email greaterbedminster@gmail.com, leave a comment on our Facebook Page Action Greater Bedminster or tweet us @greaterbedmin

Best Wishes

Ellie Freeman
